The Sunday Post #12: The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference

Hi guys, how’s your week been?

I have been quite active both with reading and blogging and that makes me super happy in a way. It gives me the sense of purpose in life?

My week in books started with Night by Elie Wiesel. It has become one of my all-time favorite books.  I could say so much about it…Then I read Deceit and Self-Deception: Fooling Yourself the Better to Fool Others  by Robert Trivers and Beyond Fear: Thinking Sensibly about Security in an Uncertain World  by Bruce Schneier and Guantánamo Diary by Mohamedou Ould Slahi. All books were okay-ish reads, nothing extraordinary. Or maybe it’s Night and it setting very high expectations.  Guantanamo Diary felt a bit like brain-wash but I’m not exactly sure what it was. I didn’t like it. Also it was too political but not really expresssing anything. I have also fallen in love with audio books. I’m currently listening to Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach and it’s kind of fascinating…if you like corpses? Fiction: I have been reading The Heart’s Invisible Furies by John Boyne. Lots of books <3

This week on blog:
Review: Night by Elie Wiesel
Opinion: From Fiction to Nonfiction

The Sunday Post which you are reading :)

Song I have been listening non-stop this week…

I like the lyrics. And check out Aurora’s songs and music videos . They are magnificent.

Series I am watching…well not watching because of social obligations but hopefully watching soon.  JESSICA JONES SEASON 2!! SERIOUSLY!! CAN’T WAIT TO WATCH IT! IT’S MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE MARVEL SHOW. UGH. I want it and I want it now.

Otherwise, it’s been a more of a quiet week. It’s been cold and snowing in Finland. Been exploring this wintery scenery.

Been focusing on my “long project” which has been to apply for masters’ degree in UK. I feel like I have to tell people about it because it’s my dream and when I tell people about it, I’m more motivated to go after it.  Planning to submit all the documents needed for the application within this month. Wish me luck.

What have you done?  Watched? What you have you read?

  1. I have been watching Downton Abbey. I really enjoy it too. I hope you have a good week in reading. I just got back in my home after a week of no power so I am behind in things. Have a good week. =) Good Luck!

    1. Downtown Abbey is so freaking good show! Never expected to like it as much as I did…True talent in that show. And surprisingly many actors whom I did not recognize (you…British shows always have same people in all shows).

      You too! :)

  2. Yay for Jessica Jones! I’m 5 episodes in to season 2 and loving it so far!

I like that song. She has a great voice, and it’s a nice and moody song.

Good luck with your masters app!!

  3. Wishing you the best of luck with your application for schooling! I am definitely going to have to check out Jessica Jones now, I keep seeing it everywhere. Have a great week!

  7. Good luck with your application! I read Stiff for a medical microbiology class in high school and loved it; I hope the audiobook is good too :) I thought Roach was a great storyteller, even when she was talking about strange or complicated cases. She’s written a lot of other books if you like that one! Have a great week :)

    1. Thank you! Yeah it’s pretty great for such a topic… I almost feel bad that I’m so excited about that book haha. I didn’t know she has written more books, definitely will check them out!

      You too JJ!

    1. I hate how they assign reading in high-schools and they often pick some really odd reads. Like we had to read Inferno from Divine Comedy… I don’t think many people read it. Seemed super pointless.

Night is one extraordinary book though, I warmly recommend it! :) You too!
