It’s been a while everyone.

The last time I posted here was June 12th, 2022, and after 2023 this site was inactive for two years.

This blog started as a place to reflect, to explore books, ideas and write short and humorous how to guides so people would get more excited about reading. However, then I got sort of tired of reading. I only read 20 or so books in 2022 and just 10 in 2023. This year, I am back to my normal pace of 50 books.

I also feel like I am now wiser and a better writer so look forward to posting more! Anyone I know still out there? If so, leave a comment so I can check out your blogs and what you have been up to.

Life has been good outside reading. Met a great guy in 2023 and we got engaged this year, travelled a lot, lived a lot, laughed a lot.

If you’ve been here before, thank you for sticking around.
If you’re new, welcome!

Let’s begin again.

How to Get Back Into Reading After a Long Break

If you’ve fallen out of the habit of reading, you’re not alone. Life gets loud, attention gets fragmented, and books quietly wait on the shelf.

Here are a few ways to begin again:

  1. Don’t aim for 50 pages a day or a reading challenge. Aim for five minutes. One chapter. Even one page. In fact, just opening a book helps a lot.
  2. Re-read something you loved. Read familiar books and your favourite genres.
  3. You don’t need to put pressure on yourself. Read whatever you want. Even if it is romantasy (more on romantasy topic soon).
  4. Buy books. There is a lot of books on Vinted. If you get into a habit of seeing them and reading what is coming out, something might get you excited enough to want your own copy.
  5. Switch it up. I tend to read a lot of books at the same time. As long as the genres do not overlap, I find it helps me with keeping up with the reading.

  1. Admittedly, when I’ve read books where genres overlapped, I’ve gotten confused. I’ll try not to do that again! Welcome Back!

    1. I know right. Reading multiple fantasy books for example at once just mashes the plot together for me so that is why I avoid it. Thanks!
